Pastor Roger Mentzer

Pastor

Pastor Roger’s first appointment was as an Associate Pastor at Allison United Methodist Church at Dickinson College, back in Carlisle, where he was born. After 7 years, the Bishop appointed him to Christ U.M. Church in Waynesboro. There he served 8 years until he received a call from Bishop Felton May, who asked that he serve as District Superintendent of the York area. That is where he became further acquainted with Yorkshire UM Church.
Following his term as Superintendent, he was appointed to Bethlehem UM in Dallastown, where he served 20 years before retirement on June 30, 2021. Both of their children graduated from Dallastown Schools. Cathy, his wife, also served the school district, working in the Administrative Offices. She is still helping there, even though she retired in December of 2021.
He is looking forward to serving Yorkshire Church. “I know that there are interesting days ahead, as we walk together in this challenging times in United Methodism. I view our task as keeping the ship steady as we move forward together, following Jesus. We will pray, pray, pray, that God will reveal the pathway that our journey demands as servants of Christ.”
